January 9 Day 672: Catching Sunrise

I looked out the window this morning and saw it was going to be a beautiful sunrise. I threw on pants, sweatshirt, sneakers, and raced out the door in an attempt to catch nature’s show.

Apparently this is something I do on January 9, at least according to my Facebook memories.

As I arrived at the Les Davis Pier, the sky was ablaze in orange. A gentleman, carrying a very fancy camera, was leaving just as I arrived. We greeted each other pleasantly and he added, “it was a beautiful sunrise.”

I was deflated. I must have missed something spectacular. But it was still 20 minutes before the official sunrise. The colors in the sky were beautiful. Rather than dwell on what I had missed, I would appreciate the beauty before me and the changes still to come.

And I fully agree with the stranger, it was a beautiful sunrise.
